What we've done

1. NIGER DELTA PEACE INITIATIVE, NDPI

Peace in Bayelsa East
Our efforts in ensuring and maintaining peace through interaction with all stakeholders has helped made Bayelsa East, one of the most peaceful in the Niger Delta oil producing sub-region. This peace is with the exception of occasional inter-community strife. NDPI has an open information channel with the militant youths within the sub-region. This has helped us in building peace bridges between Ijaw communities and the government.

NDPI/Joint Revolutionary Council, JRC pact
Joint Revolutionary Council is an umbrella body of most militant youth organization in the sub-region. A couple of months ago, a deal was reached between NDPI and JRC. The pact/agreement ensures that the youth lay down arms while NDPI help demobilize and help reintegrate the youth militants into the society. However, the pact could not be upheld because of lack of funds and lack of government cooperation.
